5,250 people a year diagnosed with gut (Gastro-intestinal) cancers
50% will die in 5 years
The most common group of cancers
Under-funded, under-recognised
Gut Cancer Foundation supports clinical research to improve outcomes for people with Gastro-Intestinal (GI) cancers, otherwise known as gut cancers. 5,250 cases diagnosed each year and over half will die within five years!
Our aim is to improve survival and quality of life for those affected by GI cancers.
This group of cancers affects the bowel, pancreas, stomach, gallbladder, liver and oesophagus. It is collectively the most common form of cancer in New Zealand. Despite its prevalence, GI cancer remains under funded.
HELP US RAISE MONEY – WITHOUT SPENDING A CENT
This is the most powerful fundraising initiative we’ve ever launched. We don’t need your money – we just need your power!
Community Power is a new power company that wants to make a difference to the lives of New Zealanders. To do so, it shares its profits with local charities, schools, clubs and community groups.
Here’s how it works:
When you buy your electricity from Community Power you get to donate a share of the profits they make from your bill to the Gut Cancer Foundation. You switch on your current rates, or less, never any more, your donation comes from their profits not your pocket.
How to help us at no cost to you:
Help us help our community, it won’t cost you a cent and you might even make some savings.

Hi. Grant Baker here, Chairperson of the Gut Cancer Foundation. “Community Power is an excellent way to support gut (gastro-intestinal) cancer research just by changing your power bill. I was a part of the Empower start up and we raised significant funds for charity. It won’t cost you and when you switch on that light switch, you will be helping save lives!” Grant Baker, Chairperson
Gut Cancer Foundation – What do we do?
We fund clinical research, fellowships and clinical trials which ensure the patient gains the benefits of early access to leading-edge treatments and their specialists have the opportunity to provide research-driven care.
Clinical trials are the final link in the chain of medical research that take discoveries made in the laboratory and advance them into treatments that can save lives.
Fellowships support – keeping our brightest researchers in New Zealand.
We also work to increase public awareness of this all-too-common group of cancers.
Thanks for your support
